Our Work
Nova Centre & Halifax Convention Centre
Tate Engineering proudly led the Nova Centre and Halifax Convention Centre project, overcoming unique challenges to deliver a resilient, people-focused infrastructure in the heart of downtown Halifax. The project demanded advanced coordination, including excavating two city blocks down to 80 feet into bedrock, phased permitting on a constrained site, and aligning diverse stakeholders from lenders to municipal authorities. Tate’s proactive, collaborative approach guided the project from concept to completion, expertly managing scope development, contract negotiations, and stakeholder consensus.
Through clear communication and steady leadership, Tate facilitated efficient delivery, ensuring the $144M Design Build fit up was completed on schedule and to the highest standards. Our team’s oversight enabled simultaneous glazing and roofing installation, maintained budget discipline, and drove high system performance and regulatory compliance. The result: a world-class convention facility that enhances comfort, safety, and operational excellence for tenants and visitors alike.
Tate’s commitment to integrity, effectiveness, and people-first problem solving brought lasting value not only to our client, but to the entire Halifax community. Improved efficiency and tenant experiences support long-term environmental and sustainability goals, helping shape a brighter future for the city. As one client shared, “Working with Tate Engineering was a game changer. Their ability to guide our project through every complexity and bring all parties together made all the difference in delivering a world-class facility for Halifax.”
